Job Title: Accountant.
Purpose: To undertake the financial tasks required for the proper operation of the Educational Empowerment Organization.
The employer is an NGO legally registered in Tanzania with its office in Moshi, Tanzania. The NGO focuses on educational initiatives that will advance the prospects of adolescents and young adults who come from disadvantaged circumstances, and related activities intended to assist in alleviating extreme poverty. Scholarships are provided for individuals deemed to be capable and motivated, but without financial or personal resources, to complete studies appropriate to their skills and interests.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our organization team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Tasks:
- To prepare accurate and complete monthly and annual financial record-keeping and reports required by the TRA, EdPowerment’s auditors, other Tanzanian authorities, and U.S. EdPowerment management promptly.
- To prepare quarterly financial requests for program support and other financial requests as needed to EdPowerment Inc. or other potential funders.
- To submit receipts and payment vouchers for all transactions every month according to procedures established by Educational Empowerment Organization (EdPowerment).
- To oversee the preparation and submission of annual budgets.
- To manage the payment of students’ fees, staff salaries, and other expenditures as required.
- To undertake banking activities related to the organization’s operations.
- To assist in grant requests related to programs.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience (preferably working in the organization).
- Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
