Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy and Oversight
- Develop and implement a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with Mawazo’s mission and growth objectives.
- Assess Mawazo’s current technology landscape, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Optimize and integrate digital platforms (Google Workspace, QuickBooks, BambooHR, CRM) to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure IT infrastructure is secure and compliant, overseeing cybersecurity, risk management, and data protection policies (e.g., Kenya Data Protection Act, GDPR).
- Digital Transformation and Systems Otimization
- Guide the implementation and scaling of key digital systems, including the Mawazo Learning Exchange (MLEx) Platform and the Mawazo Connects Platform.
- Lead and manage the transition from Dropbox to Google Workspace, ensuring a smooth migration process.
- Establish best practices for IT governance, cybersecurity, and digital operations.
- Advisory and Capacity Building
- Act as a trusted advisor to Mawazo’s leadership on IT strategy, risk management, and emerging technology trends.
- Provide mentorship and support to the Digital Systems Officer and other staff, ensuring effective use of digital tools.
- Develop training programmes to enhance digital literacy across the organisation.
- Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary liaison for technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Oversee procurement, contract negotiations, and vendor performance evaluations to ensure cost-effective technology solutions.
- Identify strategic partnerships and funding opportunities to support Mawazo’s digital growth.
- Performance Monitoring and Compliance
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure technology adoption, system uptime, and cybersecurity resilience.
- Ensure compliance with data protection laws, cybersecurity best practices, and internal IT policies.
- Provide regular reports to leadership on technology performance, risks, and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in IT leadership, digital transformation, or CIO roles.
- Proven experience developing and executing IT strategies in complex organisations.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based platforms (Google Cloud), cybersecurity, and data protection regulations.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable strategies for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with NGOs, research institutions, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
