EPCM Superintendent (1 position)Reports to: EPCM Construction Manager
Roster: 6 Weeks on, 3 Weeks Off roster
Duty Station: Nyanzaga, Sengerema, Mwanza
Contract Type: Specified Period of Time contract
Position Purpose
The EPCM Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management activities for the Tanzania Nyanzaga Project. This role ensures that all project phases are executed efficiently, safely, and within the established budget and schedule, aligning with the project’s objectives and regulatory requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
Management of Safety, Environment, & Community Relations
- Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance.
- Foster positive relationships with local communities and stakeholders, addressing concerns and facilitating engagement.
- Implement and monitor HSE management systems and procedures.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, environment, health, and community.
Operations
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project objectives are met.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction activities to ensure seamless integration and project progression.
- Monitor project performance metrics, including cost, schedule, and quality, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Ensure all engineering designs and construction activities comply with industry standards and project specifications.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Engineering
- Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure designs are optimized for constructability and operational efficiency.
- Supervise the engineering design process, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Review and approve engineering plans, specifications, and technical documents to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering activities to resolve design conflicts and optimize project outcomes.
Construction
- Implement effective construction management practices, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to all stakeholders.
Qualification/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Industry membership (desired).
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Valid International driver’s licence.
- 7-10 years relevant experience in relevant position.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale EPCM projects within the mining or resource sector.
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, procurement processes, and construction methodologies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project resources efficiently.
- Experience working in Tanzania or similar regions, with an understanding of local regulations and cultural considerations.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to speak Swahili or other local languages.
