TLS is the professional body for legal practitioners in Tanzania, committed to upholding the rule of law, enhancing legal professionalism, and advocating for access to justice. We are seeking dynamic and qualified professionals to fill the following positions:
1. Program Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Reports to: Executive Director
Position: 1
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of TLS programs.
Oversee professional development, ethics, compliance, and legal advocacy initiatives.
Develop and execute fundraising strategies to support TLS programs.
Strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, including the government, judiciary, parliament, and donors.
Ensure timely and effective program reporting and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Supervise program officers and contribute to the overall TLS strategic direction.
Key Qualifications & Competencies:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, legal services, or a similar role.
Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to mobilize resources and manage donor-funded programs.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
2. Assistant Accountant (Accounts Payable)
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Position: 1
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor compliance with TLS financial policies and procedures.
Review all payable documents for completeness, validity, and accuracy before processing payments.
Ensure timely processing of supplier payments based on reconciled invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documents.
Monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to authorized levels.
Maintain and reconcile petty cash, ensuring expenditures align with TLS financial policies.
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and expenditure reports.
Support external and internal audit functions by providing necessary documentation.
Key Qualifications & Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or its equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in accounts payable roles.
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and accounting software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
