Position Summary:
WAJAMAMA Foundation is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to support the financial management and operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess at least three years of experience in finance, particularly related to grant management and working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The Finance Officer will ensure accurate financial record-keeping, support grant management processes, and assist in maintaining strong relationships with donors and funders.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Assist in the management of the day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and donor requirements.
- Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the finance team.
Grant Management:
- Assist in the financial management of grants, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with grant agreements and funder guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of grant-related financial transactions and support the preparation of financial reports for funders.
- Work closely with program teams to ensure budgetary alignment and timely reporting of financial information.
Donor and Funder Relations:
- Maintain organized files for all donor contracts, grants, and communications, ensuring easy access to relevant documentation.
- Support the preparation of donor reports, ensuring that financial data is accurate and reflects the organization’s impact.
- Assist in identifying new funding opportunities and contribute to the preparation of grant proposals.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain financial documentation and ensure compliance with local regulations and organizational policies.
- Assist in the internal and external audit processes, providing necessary financial records and reports as needed.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the projects & fundraising teams, including data entry, processing invoices, and reconciling accounts.
- Support the projects and fundraising teams in various special projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, with familiarity in grant management within the nonprofit sector.
- Proficiency in financial software and spreadsheets (e.g., MS Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
