Job Description

The Head of Sales will lead the Organization in income generation from the commercial sector. The role will have both strategic and operational responsibilities. The Head of Sales will be responsible for driving the sales strategy of the business and revenue generation.

Key responsibilities

Strategy, Policy and Planning

  • Identifies, formulates and designs long term strategic direction goals and objectives in line with group guidelines.
  • Establishes both annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the Company’s business plan
  • Provides an annual sales plan and provides quarterly updates, revisions, and modifications to the plan
  • Coordinates the specific objectives of the sales plan with all the functional departments of the company

Sales Execution

  • Provides direction to the Sales Department
  • Works closely with the members of the sales team to ensure the most effective use of resource is upheld to meet targets and objectives across sales.
  • Manages the needs of the customers in order to meet the objectives of the company’s overall business plan and strategies
  • Manages the sales function of the company
  • Oversees the development and implementation of initiatives to achieve listings, product availability and visibility targets.
  • Leads in the achievement of the targeted Sales Revenue.
  • Builds a marketing and sales plan to deliver the required brand awareness that leads to increase in revenue generation.
  • Sets Revenue targets for the team in line with the overall company revenue plan.
  • Develops and continuously evaluate the effectiveness of sales processes and systems. o Oversees the development of a sales pipeline, proactively manages and tracks the team’s performance.
  • Oversees the management of critical client accounts to enhance revenue.
  • Provides recommendations based on understanding of competitor offerings as well as global best practice and technological advancements to ensure eco cash and future mobile money products are competitive in a view to enhance revenue.

Leadership and Management

  • Develops the necessary plan/s to ensure that the team meets its agreed goals and objectives, meets direct reports on a weekly basis, identifies and agrees key result areas, key objectives/tasks and action plans.
  • Ensures that all staff are trained, developed to allow succession planning.
  • Contributes to the commercial budget. o Uses research, insight and business information to generate initiatives and proposals that will elevate customers’ experience.
  • Working with the HR Office, provides leadership and direction in the development of the team, ensuring consistency, fairness throughout to realize a highly motivated sale.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the management from time to time.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Degree in Sales, Marketing or equivalent.
  • At least 10 years ‘experience in a similar or related environment, 5 years should be in Senior Management position
  • Experience in telecoms, e-commerce, software, finance or other related industries preferable
  • Experience working in Emerging Markets required
  • Highly results and performance oriented.
  • Awareness of the telecoms and the ICT industry and the impact it has on the customer organization.

  • Must have a robust and direct management style and a natural leader
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team builder, team leader and team player, a logical and pragmatic problem solver with excellent negotiation skills
