Organization Overview

Silverleaf Academy is a chain of affordable private pre-primary and primary schools in

Tanzania, educating children aged 3-14. Our mission is to provide lower-middle-income

families with high-quality education at affordable levels. Using the national Tanzanian

curriculum, Silverleaf integrates technology in classrooms and adopts innovative teaching

methods to develop both academic and life skills. Currently operating one campus in Usa

River with approximately 400 students, Silverleaf is targeting growth to 1,000 students by

January 2025.

Role Overview

The HR Intern will assist the Human Resources Associate Manager in the administration of

daily HR operations, supporting key HR functions such as recruitment, employee relations,

payroll, and compliance. This internship provides hands-on experience in HR management

and offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills in recruitment, employee engagement,

and compliance with Tanzanian labor laws.

Key Responsibilities

● Recruitment Support: Assist in posting job advertisements, shortlisting candidates,

and coordinating interviews. Support the onboarding process by preparing necessary

documentation and assisting with orientation.

● Payroll Support: Help ensure timely and accurate payroll processing by gathering

relevant employee data and verifying attendance and leave balances.

● Employee Record Management: Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date

employee records, including personnel files, attendance, and performance data.

● Staff Welfare & Benefits: Support the administration of employee benefits programs,

such as health insurance and leave management, ensuring staff welfare is addressed.

● Compliance Assistance: Assist the HR Officer in ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labor laws and organizational HR policies. This includes helping to update policies

and monitoring adherence to legal and organizational guidelines.

● Employee Relations: Provide assistance in resolving workplace conflicts, supporting

mediation processes, and maintaining positive employee relations.

● Training & Development: Assist in identifying training needs and coordinating

employee development programs, including scheduling training sessions and tracking

progress.

● Exit Process Support: Assist in managing exit interviews and termination processes,

ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies.

● HR Reporting: Assist in generating reports on key HR metrics, such as employee

satisfaction, turnover rates, and training hours.

Skills and Attributes

● Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources,

Business Administration, or related field.

● Basic understanding of Tanzania labor laws and regulations.

● Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).

● Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.

● Eager to learn and apply HR principles in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

● Interest in education and commitment to the mission of Silverleaf Academy.
