TRA Online TIN Services (OTS) is the online platform that will allow TRA to provide a more efficient and cost effective self-service TIN registration to customers(Taxpayers) in a timely manner, as access to the service will be made available on a 24/7 basis.

The System shall be integrated with National Identification System for proof of individual identity during registration process.

The System requires that each applicant has a National Identification Number (NIN) that has been issued by National Identification Authority (NIDA) or other National IDs. You can apply TIN Number by:-

• Using National Identification Number(NIN)
• Without National Identification Number(NIN)
• With Existing TIN Registered without NIN

Online TIN service allow Taxpayer to be registered and profile to be created online. It is a Web-based self-service facility that enable Taxpayer to receive and print copy of TIN certificate without visit TRA offices.

Using National Identification Number(NIN)

TRA Online TIN Service (OTS)

1. Browse TRA Online TIN Service on TRA website (www.tra.go.tz) found under Register TIN or direct URL (

   > self-service/taxpayer-identity-number-registration) and click register button

2. Enter National Identification Number (NIN) with phone number used to register for National Identification Number (NIN).
3. You will be required to answer security questions if phone number entered was not used to register for National Identification Number(NIN).

Without National Identification Number(NIN)

1. Browse TRA Online TIN Service on TRA website (www.tra.go.tz) found under Register TIN or direct URL () and click register button
2. Then select Without National Identification Number(NIN)
3. Then Please, choose Individual TIN Application Category

With Existing TIN Registered without NIN

1. Browse TRA Online TIN Service on TRA website (www.tra.go.tz) found under Register TIN or direct URL () and click register button
2. Then select With Existing TIN Registered without NIN
3. The Special window for those who have a TIN Registered Without National Identification Number (NIN)will appear
4. Enter your TIN and follow next steps
