    Job Purpose

    The position is responsible for providing structured support to Branches in view of ensuring uniformity of application of procedures, processes and adequate effective controls across all branches.

    Key Responsibilities

    Effective branch support

    • Undertake regular branch visit to ascertain;
      • The state of maintenance, including general tidiness, State of repair and that minimum standards set by the bank are being observed.
    • Render support for opening of new and relocation of branches
      • Render support in opening new branches and /or relocation of existing branches to ensure the basic minimum requirements are properly and comprehensively covered.
      • Liaison with Head of Procurement and Logistical Support, and other support departments to ensure timely sourcing of both capital and small purchases in readiness for branch opening.
    • Branch support on Audit related matters
    • Attend Audit Entry and Exit meetings to keep abreast of matters arising.
      • Coaching and mentoring of the Branches Operations team to address specific weaknesses noted through direct interaction or matters arising from Audit reports
      • Identify common weaknesses arising from Branch Audits and assess implications from an Operations perspective. Consider action required arising there from and ensure uniform application across all branches.  This may require change of procedures, review of controls or need for training.

    Timely identification of control lapses and in liaison with the manager branch support lead and coordinate for necessary corrective action;

    • Assist branches with any operation issues requiring procedural clarifications
    • Undertake comprehensive review of actual application of controls in place

    Conduct snap checks to ensure operational processes are adequately observed

    • Comprehensive cash counts for all cash holdings at the branch
    • Comprehensive review of all value instruments including but not limited to Drafts Bankers cheques, cheque books, Debit and credit cards, PIN mailers etc.

      Participation and coordination in branch operations projects ;

      • Provide the required link/support required for effective branch engagement
      • Drive operational initiatives requiring central coordination at head office for branch input including but not limited to;
      • specific external audits
      • Bank and CBK signatory review
      • Yearend closing activities such as write-offs/ write backs

      Statutory Bodies & Regulatory Compliance;

      • UFAA returns filing
      • Responding to Requests by KRA including agency notices
      • Ensure weekly regulatory compliance by sending FRC, Large cash and Heightened activity reports as per CBK prescribed timelines

      Monitoring;

      • Preparation of various Controls/Exception reports for any unusual items or discrepancies and liaising with relevant Units for timely correction
      • Review of branch suspense accounts

      Coordination of other critical branch related tasks;

      • Zone UORCCO Meetings
      • Serve as secretaries to the respective zone UORCCO meetings, including preparation of minutes and follow-up on matters arising.
      • Incident Management
      • Review incidents within their respective zones to ensure timely closure and escalate unresolved issues where necessary.
      • Customer Service Complaints
      • Review the daily CS report to ensure customer complaints in their zones are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.

      Person Specifications

      Academic Qualifications

      Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Banking or related field

      Work Experience.

      Over four (4) years’ relevant experience with at least a year in a senior management role in a similar sized organization.
