Introduction
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) operates under the Ministry of Works, responsible for the development and maintenance of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. TANROADS also conducts Axle Load Control Operations and oversees Airport Construction.
TANROADS has entered into a contract with the Government of Tanzania for the upgrading of the Isyonje – Makete Regional Road (96.2 KM) to bitumen standard, Kitulo – Iniho Road Section (36.3 KM), and the construction of a weighbridge at Igagala Village (Contract No. TRD/HQ/1022/2022/23). To supervise this project, the Regional Manager’s Office, TANROADS – Njombe, seeks to recruit qualified personnel on a short-term contract.
Successful applicants must be prepared to work within Njombe District for extended periods as required by the project.
Terms and Conditions of Service
Appointment will be on a contract basis for twenty-one (21) months, starting in November 2024, subject to satisfactory performance.

Position Title: Works/Road Inspector (2 Posts)Educational/Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Registered as a Graduate/Professional Engineer with ERB.
- National Form IV/VI Certificate.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience related to Road Design and Construction.
- Must have served as a Works Inspector or in an equivalent capacity on at least three road construction projects of similar magnitude and complexity.
Competence:
- Computer literate.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Inspecting and approving all materials and completed works to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Keeping records, including reports, work diaries, correspondence, and instructions given to contractors.
- Measuring quantities of drainage works carried out daily.
- Preparing and submitting mini progress reports with updated costs of drainage works.
- Maintaining a site diary daily as agreed with the employer.
