We are seeking a dedicated Building and Construction Engineer to join our team and contribute to our mission of fostering a positive work environment.

 

Company Overview: Hesu Investment Ltd is licensed under Tanzania Revenue Authority to operate ICD facility since 2012. Its well-located depot site includes 9 acres of paved yard; with the capacity to store 3800 Twenty Foot equivalent units (TEUS) stacked 5 high. Job Title: Building and Construction Engineer

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Planning:
    • Develop engineering designs and plans for new construction projects, expansions, and renovations of logistics facilities.
    • Collaborate with the logistics and operations teams to ensure that all designs meet the company’s operational requirements and optimize space usage. o Ensure all designs comply with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental sustainability standards.
  2. Project Management:

o Oversee the entire lifecycle of construction projects, from conceptualization to completion, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. o Coordinate with architects, surveyors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure the quality and timely delivery of services. o Manage budgets and provide cost estimates, tracking expenses and reporting on project progress.

 

  1. Construction Supervision:
    • Monitor the progress of construction projects to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. o Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential issues, address concerns, and ensure that timelines are met.
    • Ensure the use of appropriate construction materials and techniques for durability and cost-effectiveness.
  2. Facility Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of logistics facilities, including regular inspections to assess the structural integrity and operational functionality of buildings.
    • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to prevent equipment breakdowns or facility downtime, ensuring minimal disruptions to operations.
    • Supervise facility upgrades and renovations to improve operational efficiency.
  3. Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure that all construction activities adhere to local, national, and international building codes and safety regulations. o Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards for both in-house staff and external contractors.
    • Stay updated on the latest safety, environmental, and construction regulations and ensure company facilities remain compliant.
  4. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
    • Promote the use of sustainable materials and energy-efficient designs in all construction and maintenance activities.
    • Implement and monitor eco-friendly construction practices and energy-saving solutions to reduce the environmental footprint of the company’s facilities.

 

 

  1. Vendor and Contractor Management:

o Identify, select, and manage external contractors and suppliers for construction projects, ensuring all agreements are cost-effective and aligned with the company’s standards. o Negotiate contracts and oversee the performance of external parties to ensure they deliver quality services and meet deadlines.

  1. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain comprehensive           records            of         construction    activities, facility maintenance, and all associated costs.
    • Prepare detailed reports on project timelines, budgets, and outcomes for presentation to senior management. o Ensure proper documentation of facility inspections, safety reports, and construction permits.
  2. Any other job assigned Immediate Supervisor, General manager or Director

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineer or any other related field.
  • Proven experience 3+ in building and construction preferably in ICD, CFS setting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and Microsoft Office Package.
