SBL was incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and changed its name to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002 and commenced commercial operations in 1996 with one brewery in Dar es Salaam. The company was acquired by EABL in October 2010 and has three breweries located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.
SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brand portfolios include Guinness and Plisner. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international renowned spirit brands such as Johnnie Walker®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey’s Irish Cream ®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey® and Gilbeys Gin®.
Purpose of Role
This role is responsible for developing and implementing channel strategies to drive sales, distribution, and market penetration through premium core retail and distribution channels. This role involves building a strategy and framework geared towards optimizing channel performance and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Top Accountabilities
- Increase brand awareness, trial, affinity through implementing high-quality drinking experience at a point of Sale through the development of Execution blueprints and Availability Standards tailored to channel/segment.
- -Leads commercialization / tailoring of brand and portfolio activities to channel and customer to drive triple win outcomes
- Work closely with Brand Team(s) to create brand assets in assigned channel for priority Premium brands to enable and successfully execute staff training, menu and feature printing, back bar management and merchandising.
- As central point of contact between Field Sales and Marketing, build and deliver creative, high quality On & Off-trade 365Essentials programs in line with the brand strategy.
- Develop Point of Sale tools to support BTL programs that will maximize brands availability, activation, and visibility at the Point of Sale.
- Manages the Channel Activation budgeting and spend disciplines.
- Sets KPIs and leads the Measurement & Evaluation of key activities to ensure continuous improvement of growth drivers and secure efficiency and effectiveness of spend.
-Develop Outlet Segmentation and Outlet Activation Blueprint development.
- Supports the development of the trade strategy.
- Working with distributors, outlet owners and the Sales team to build all round 365E capability.
Qualifications, Experience, and leadership
- Educated to university degree level or equivalent. Postgraduate qualifications an advantage
- Minimum 5 years’ experience either within an FMCG organisation within commercial or customer marketing
- A strong track record in field sales & customer marketing experience, with demonstrated ability in planning and execution.
- A good understanding and strong capability to coach others on customer marketing fundamentals& BTL process.
- Excellence in terms of interpersonal skills and ability to brilliantly manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
