Farm Manager – Crops and Livestock (2 positions) in Nairobi

We are looking for experienced agriculture professionals to join us as Farm Managers in our Client’s fast-growing, established agricultural enterprise in Kenya. In this position, you will oversee the day to day operations of the Farm, managing both crop production and livestock activities, equipment and managing crews for basic landscaping projects, such as lawn mowing and tree pruning. This role includes planning, coordinating, and implementing all aspects of farming operations to ensure productivity, profitability, and sustainability.

Crop Management:

  •  Plan and manage the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of crops.
  •  Monitor crop health and manage pest, disease, and weed control.
  •  Develop and implement irrigation schedules.
  •  Maintain records of crop inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides) and yields.
  •  Coordinate soil testing and recommend nutrient management plans.

Livestock Management:

  •  Oversee feeding, breeding, and health care of livestock (e.g., cattle, goats, poultry, etc.).
  •  Maintain records of animal health, vaccinations, breeding, and production.
  •  Ensure proper waste management and biosecurity measures are followed.
  •  Supervise animal housing and feeding systems.

Staff Management:

  •  Supervise farm workers and assign daily tasks.
  •  Train and develop staff in best farming practices and safety protocols.
  •  Maintain work schedules and monitor performance.

Operational Management:

  •  Manage budgets, procurement of inputs, and sale of farm produce and animals.
  •  Ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained.
  •  Maintain farm infrastructure including fencing, irrigation systems, and housing.
  •  Ensure compliance with environmental and agricultural regulations.

Qualifications:

  •  Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. (1st or 2nd Class upper)
  •  Minimum 5 years of experience managing large scale mixed farming operations.
  •  Strong knowledge of crop and livestock management husbandry and practices.
  •  Possess Leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  •  Ability to operate and understand maintenance of farm machinery is an added advantage.
  •  Proficient in record-keeping and basic computer skills.
