    Finance Associate-Tax

    Tax Management:

    • Ensure the company is compliant with tax laws in all operating countries, with a focus on Pan-African tax regulations.
    • Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, etc.) in a timely manner.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation changes and recommend adjustments to the company’s tax strategy.
    • Assist in tax audits and ensure proper documentation is maintained for all tax-related matters.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improve tax data management, and implement best practices across the finance department
    • Assist in developing tax-efficient strategies, leveraging knowledge of tax credits, deductions, and incentives to reduce overall tax liabilities.

    Financial Reporting & Analysis:

    • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
    • Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Perform variance analysis to track performance against financial targets

    ​​​​​​​Audit Support:

    • Assist in internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
    • Ensure that all financial records are accurate and comply with statutory and company requirements.

    Treasury Management:

    • Manage the day-to-day cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.
    • Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage cash balances across the group’s accounts.
    • Ensure accurate and timely bank reconciliations.

    Accounts Payable:

    • Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely payment to suppliers and vendors.
    • Review and verify invoices for accuracy and proper documentation.
    • Process payments in accordance with company policies and contractual terms.

    Compliance & Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies across all functions.
    • Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.

    Requirements

    Key Competencies:

    • Tax Expertise: In-depth knowledge of tax laws, especially across African jurisdictions, and ability to navigate complex tax environments.
    • Critical and Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic actionable insights with a mindset for tax-related opportunities
    • Familiarity with tax credits, incentives, and deductions.
    • Ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks

    Academic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
    • Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA is preferred but not required.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
    • In-depth understanding of tax laws and regulations, with experience in tax planning and compliance.
    • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office suite, with advanced Excel skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

    Relevant Experience:

    • Proven experience as a Finance Officer or similar role, with at least 3-4 years of relevant experience.
