        The job is critical in the implementation of transport services. The job holder is responsible for handling vehicles as assigned.

        Job Description

        • The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:
        • Carrying out routine checks on vehicle’s fueling, cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems and tyre pressure;
        • Detecting and reporting vehicle defects on time; ensuring vehicle cleanliness;
        • Driving the vehicle as authorized;
        • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road, passengers, and goods therein;
        • Maintaining daily work tickets;
        • Ensuring routine service and maintenance of the vehicle;
        • Timely reporting of accidents and follow up of police abstract;
        • Taking vehicles inspection and keeping up-to-date insurance documents;
        • Ensuring that all documents are valid and well displayed;
        • Preparing periodic vehicle performance reports as required.

        Qualification and Experience

        • For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have:
        • KCSE D+ or its equivalent;
        • At least four (4) years cumulative relevant work experience;
        • Valid Class BCE or FG (for Motorcycle Riders) Driving License free from any endorsement;
        • Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III;
        • Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) years;
        • First Aid Certificate lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John’s Ambulance or Kenya
        • Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
        • Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
        • Valid Certificate of good conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigation;
        • Occupational Trade Test Grade II for drivers;
        • Certificate in Fleet Management from a recognized institution;
        • Demonstrated merit in work performance;
        • Basic knowledge of computer applications;
        • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
