Position Overview.
The Head of Housekeeping and Gardeners oversees the cleaning and upkeep of the school. This role involves managing a team of housekeeping staff and gardeners to maintain cleanliness, order, and aesthetic appeal, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and landscaping.
Key Responsibilities
- Housekeeping Management:
- Supervise daily cleaning operations of all rooms, facilities, and common areas.
- Develop and implement housekeeping schedules and checklists.
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and coordinate procurement as needed.
- Inspect completed tasks to maintain quality assurance.
- Gardening Management:
- Oversee the planning, planting, and maintenance of gardens, lawns, and outdoor spaces.
- Develop landscaping schedules and ensure timely maintenance (e.g., pruning, mowing, weeding).
- Coordinate pest control and fertilization activities.
- Ensure proper care and upkeep of tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Train, and supervise housekeeping and gardening staff.
- Create shift schedules and assign tasks to team members.
- Conduct regular team meetings to discuss goals, updates, and challenges.
- Ensure team compliance with health and safety standards.
- Ensure wearing of proper uniform
- Reporting, Maintenance and Improvement:
- Prepare reports on tasks completed, maintenance issues, and improvement recommendations.
- Collaborate with senior management to set and meet operational goals.
- Identify areas for improvement in housekeeping and landscaping processes.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to address repairs or replacements.
- Suggest and implement eco-friendly practices for cleaning and gardening
- Work with HR and Operations to provide spot job performance feedback and yearly reviews
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience:
- Degree in hospitality, facilities management, horticulture, or related fields.
- 3+ years of experience in housekeeping and/or gardening roles, including at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
- He /She should be 30+ years old.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of modern cleaning techniques and gardening practices.
- Familiarity with safety and hygiene regulations.
- Budgeting and resource management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment
- The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, depending on operational needs.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during busy periods.
