Key Responsibilities:
• Design, coordinate, and manage a comprehensive Company-wide Compliance Matrix for internal, legal, and statutory reporting.
• Support Legal, Internal Audit, and Risk Management teams in the annual review and implementation of Group and Internal Policies, ensuring Executive Management and Board approval.
• Collaborate with the Data Officer to ensure full compliance with data protection responsibilities and related activities.
• Oversee registry maintenance, property management, and document control functions.
• Provide legal drafting and conveyancing support as required.
• Audit internal procedures, practices, and documentation to identify and address compliance risks or weaknesses.
• Monitor and communicate relevant legal and regulatory changes, supporting training and development initiatives, including GZI Accelerate.
• Perform additional administrative and secretarial duties as assigned by the Group Company Secretary & Legal Counsel.
Minimum Requirements (As per Kenyan Law):
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
• Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holding a current, valid Practicing Certificate.
• At least 5 years of post-admission experience in legal practice, corporate law, regulatory compliance, or governance.
• Good standing with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of the Kenyan legal and regulatory environment, including data protection laws, corporate governance codes, and statutory compliance frameworks.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of corporate and commercial law, with proven experience in legal drafting and conveyancing.
• Familiarity with compliance standards and risk management frameworks.
• Excellent communication, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and levels of seniority.
• High degree of professional integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
