The Loan Officer is responsible for the entire lifecycle of Jackfruit’s financing products within their assigned region. This role involves sales, credit assessment, loan disbursement, and debt portfolio management. SSLs work directly with school leaders to ensure funds are used effectively and to benefit the schools they support. Based on experience, candidates may be placed into a Senior or Junior position.

About the Role: Loan Officer

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Commitment: Full-time position with a dynamic and mission-driven team.

Reports to: Branch Manager (Regional Team Leader)

Entry Levels:

● Senior Loan Officer: Extensive experience in education finance or B2B sales

● Junior Loan Officer: Entry to mid-level experience, ideally with a background in sales or client management

Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Acquisition and Pipeline Development

a. Identify and onboard new schools interested in Jackfruit’s loan products, meeting monthly targets.

b. Foster strong relationships with school leaders, becoming a trusted advisor for their financial needs.

2. Credit Scoring and Loan Processing.

a. Conduct thorough credit scoring for schools applying for loans through accurate and detail oriented data capture.

b. Evaluate applicants’ financial profiles and ensure accuracy in credit applications before review.

3. Training and Onboarding for Loan Recipients

a. Train approved schools on managing their Jackfruit loans, ensuring a clear understanding of repayment processes and project guidelines.

b. Monitor project implementations and asset purchases to confirm funds are utilized as intended

4. Debt Portfolio and Risk Management

a. Manage and monitor the repayment of loans, ensuring timely collections and developing corrective action plans for delinquent accounts.

b. Collaborate with internal teams to achieve a 100% on-time repayment rate.

5. Client Relations and Ongoing Support

a. Provide ongoing financial guidance and support to schools, addressing queries and maintaining a positive client relationship.

b. Attend regional meetings and peer review sessions to share insights and contribute to best practices within the SSL team.

6. Data Management and Operational Support

a. Ensure accurate tracking of client data and loan application status, and actively follow up with pending applications.

b. Execute other education finance-related tasks as assigned by the Team Leader or Head of Operations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

● Repayment: Achieve a 100% on-time repayment rate across all loans.

● Disbursement Targets: Achieve disbursement targets monthly

● Fund Utilization: Ensure all disbursed funds are used as intended for project or asset acquisition.

Compensation & Benefits:

● Salary: Competitive, with benefits

● Insurance: Coverage for employees and immediate family

● Monthly Airtime Allowance: KES 2,100

● Business Trip Coverage: Transport and accommodation provided for trips outside Nairobi and surrounding areas

● Contract Type: Permanent, with an initial 3-month probation period (extendable up to 12 months)
