1.0 INTRODUCTION
TAHA is an apex private sector member-based organization mandated to develop and promote horticulture (flowers, fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and horticultural seeds) in Tanzania. TAHA’s goal is to improve the growth and competitiveness of horticultural industry in the country for social and economic gains. TAHA is a unified voicing platform for Tanzania horticulture, representing farmers at all levels, processors, exporters and service providers in the horticultural industry in Tanzania.
TAHA has established TAHA Research and Information Center (TARIC) which is an information platform for the horticultural industry in Tanzania. The role of TARIC Manager is to conduct horticultural research, to collect, process, package and disseminate horticultural data and information and to coordinate research partners in horticulture.
To effectively operationalize TARIC, TAHA seeks to hire a TARIC Manager, to coordinate and implement TAHA research and information activities.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The TARIC Manager will be responsible for coordinating and implementing research and information activities that support the horticultural sector in Tanzania. This role will involve engaging with stakeholders, managing research partnerships, operationalizing the digital platform, and leading a dedicated team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinating Horticultural research and Information generation and dissemination
Identify and address key research issues within the horticulture sector.
Establish and operationalize strategic research partnerships within the horticultural sector.
Coordinate the implementation of research partnership platform in horticulture.
Address specific data and information requests by stakeholders.
Facilitate data collection, analysis and packaging and dissemination of research findings.
Partnership Management and Resource Mobilization
Engage with stakeholders such as investors, academia, government agencies, and development partners to foster collaborative partnerships.
Identify and mobilize financial, technical and human resources to support and facilitate implementation of TARIC activities.
Develop strategic partnerships that enhance the capacity and reach of TARIC’s initiatives.
Operationalization of TARIC Digital Platform
Provide strategic guidance and direction on the design, functionality, and user experience of TARIC’s digital platforms to ensure they meet stakeholder needs.
Develop and operationalize a comprehensive strategy for TARIC that aligns with TAHA’s overarching goals.
Team Management
Assemble and manage a team of professionals with the requisite skills and expertise for the successful operationalization of TARIC.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment through guidance, support and professional development opportunities for team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in economics, Agricultural Economics, Business Management or a related field.
Post-Graduate Degree will be considered as an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience in research and information management, preferably within the agricultural or horticultural sectors.
Proven track record in managing research initiatives and partnerships.
Experience in resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement.
Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Proficiency in project management and team leadership.
Familiarity with digital platforms and data management tools.
Passion for horticulture and commitment to improving the industry in Tanzania.
