Program Officer, Global Labour Program

- The Program Officer (GLP) will support the program in managing activities and relationships with key stakeholders in the farmers hubs under the East Africa Breweries Limited Value Chain. The post holder will ensure that the program activities in the project sites are planned, implemented, completed on time, well-coordinated, monitored and meet high quality standards as per the program’s goals and objectives.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implementation of programme activities (60% of time)
- Coordinate implementation of activities and sharing of lessons learned from activities of the farmers hubs.
- Manage and participate in key aspects of the program cycle including effective activity planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, financial management, reporting and documentation.
- Liaise and work with the UDPK Monitoring Evaluation Reporting and Learning (MERL) lead and other internal expertise as required.
- Perform risk management for all program activities for the farmers hubs.
- Participate in programme reflection sessions.
- Working with programme stakeholders in project sites (30% of time)
- Manage relationships with key program stakeholders including consortium partners directly working with farmers hubs, organisations of persons with disabilities, trade unions in programme locations among other partners.
- Participate in meetings, learning and collaboration activities with key project partners working directly with the farmers hub.
- Track performance of programme activities related to the farmers hubs and ensure quality and timely preparation of programme reports.
- Provide support to organisations of persons with disabilities in programme locations to play their roles in support of the activities of the farmers hubs.
- Be proactive in identifying and communicating challenges and possible solutions during the programme activity cycle.
- Financial & Resource Management (10% of time) Work closely with UDPK Finance Officer:
- In preparation of programme activity budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure all expenditure is accounted for and reporting provided in line with the organisation’s finance policy and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Policy, education, development studies or related field.
- At least 3 years proven work experience as a Project Officer or a similar role managing a dynamic program with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven experience in Program cycle management including Design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Demonstrable experience working with diverse communities and community-based organisations using participatory methodologies.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, decision-making and problem solving skills.
Desirable
- Familiarity with national legislation and policies in the field of disability, human rights, labour rights and employment.
- Experience of advocacy work for disability inclusion.
- Understanding of trends and good practices in disability inclusion,
- Knowledge of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
