Heart to Heart Foundation(HtHF) was established in 1988 to bring together a beautiful society by supporting both domestic and international children and their families, who are suffering from poverty, disease and disability. We started to work in Tanzania since 2009 dealing with Eye Health issues and launched the Tanzania branch on June 30th, 2011 with registration No. 00NGO/00004737.

HtHF is planning to implement WASH projects in Mtama district, Tanzania and it currently looking for an experienced Project Coordinator to oversee the project implementation

Project Summary: 

The Community-Led WASH Improvement Initiative in Mtama District, a three-year project (2024-2026) funded by KOICA and implemented by Heart to Heart Foundation, aims to reduce the prevalence of infectious diseases, particularly waterborne illnesses, by improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions in the district.

The project focuses on three key areas:

  1. Health Facility-Centered WASH Improvement: Strengthened accessibility to safe drinking water centered on public health facilities
  2. Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS): Empowering communities to take ownership of their sanitation challenges and implement sustainable solutions, such as the construction of household improved latrines and the promotion of hygienic practices.
  3. Strengthening WASH Management and Supervision: Establishment of coordination and governance at district level (CHMT, RHMT) e.g. planning/ coordination meetings, monitoring

Job title: Project Coordinator

Office location: Lindi Town

Duration: One Year contract and extendable

Summary of Core Function

Project Coordinator should be technical expert in all matters pertaining of the program planning and its execution, she/he is expected to provide technical leadership and oversight of the project implementation.

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. Overall Coordination on project part
  • Leads in planning and implementing projects activities, ensuring incorporation of best practice project management processes. This will include developing full-cycle project implementation plans.
  • Manage the timely and cost-effective implementation of activities according to project goals/targets, internal expectations, and approved budgets
  • Writing and submission of Weekly reports and Task management
  • Support Field Manager in Management of M&E systems
  1. Project Management 
  • Coordination of project activities in Mtama District Council-Lindi; Ensuring quality achievements of the programme outputs in line with HtHF Tanzania qualitative standards, administrative rules.
  • Designing a detailed work plan and assuring regular monitoring of the implementation including budget control; Identifying project implementation partners and service providers.
  • Daily monitoring and regular evaluation of the project activities, reporting on the progress achieved and suggesting updates of the project log frame;
  • Presenting aggregate strategic analysis on project performance based on commitment of partners, progress in implementation of activities outputs;
  • Regular monitoring the financial status of the project;
  • Regularly conducting meetings of the project members, preparing minutes of meetings and action plans with clear responsibilities and timeframe.
  • Develop quality success stories and case studies with talking photos.

Requirements.

  • Degree in Public Health, Water and Sanitation, Social Sciences, International Development. Advanced Degree in related field is an added advantage.
  • 3 years of senior level management experience in the design, implementation, and management of health sector programs of similar size, complexity and setting
  • 5 years of technical experience in WASH program specifically in Water Point Committee, Community Microfinance Group, CLTS and Sanitation Marketing.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities and completing tasks on time and on budget
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in building and maintaining productive working relationships
  • Proven record of building teams and fostering collaboration to achieve program goals, meet program milestones, and produce quality program results
  • Exceptional communication skills in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work across cultures
  • Skilled in project planning, monitoring and evaluation techniques.
