The European Union Delegation to the United Republic of Tanzania and the East African Community, Dar es Salaam is looking for:

The EU plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid, and working with global organizations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.

The Delegation of the European Union to Tanzania and the East African Community is a key actor in the relations between the European Union and Tanzania, as well as the East African Community. In close coordination with EU Member States’ Heads of Missions, its role is to:

  • Promote fundamental rights, good governance, and accountable democracy.
  • Support Tanzania’s development agenda and sustainable development goals for a better life for all.
  • Stimulate inclusive growth, private sector, and job creation.

We Offer:

Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Office Support – Receptionist. The job functions may change in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. This is a full-time employment position. The post is allocated in salary Group 4, which has a minimum gross salary of 2,150,348 TZS per month. Other entitlements are provided as per European Union human resources procedures applicable to locally recruited staff. The definitive salary will be determined based on the professional experience of the successful candidate. We offer a competitive position in an international environment. Receptionist Responsibilities:
  • Handling all telephone calls reaching the switchboard.
  • Handling all visitors upon arrival as well as the visitors’ book.
  • Coordinating with Building Security Reception to enable smooth invitation of guests to the EU Delegation.
  • Ensure that visitors are accompanied at all times when entering the EU Delegation.
  • Manage the Delegation’s visitors’ lounge as well as conference rooms (including catering).
  • Mail/document registration in ARES and attribution.
  • Maintain and update the list of contacts.
  • Registration of invoices in ABAC INVOICE.
  • General assistance to the Head of Administration when required.
  • Assist with Driver Booking.
  • Assist with LPO Management.
  • Assist Secretaries/Protocol.
Selection Criteria:

Compulsory Requirement:

  • Secondary School Education plus a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or Business Administration from recognized institutions.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as administrative support/Receptionist.

Knowledge of Languages:

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of an additional European language is an asset.

Knowledge of IT Tools:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

The Procedure:

After the application deadline, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a shortlist of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post based on a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and supporting documents. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an assessment phase, which may include an interview if necessary. During this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.
