Neema Orphanage Centre (NOC) is an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) – Northern Diocese. It is run by the Sisters of Ushirika wa Neema – Moshi and is located on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, 17 kilometres from Moshi along the Machame Road in Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region.

The Orphanage is a humble response to God’s love and care for children whose parents have passed away or abandoned them in the early stages of their lives, leaving them without proper care. This lack of care could jeopardize their well-being and future.

Our vision is to provide care and abundant life to these children, ensuring they live a dignified and meaningful life, instead of facing death or insurmountable hardship. Ushirika wa Neema considers it a grace to fulfill this God-given diaconal ministry.

Neema Orphanage Centre is seeking for a qualified Tanzanian national candidate for the position of Social Worker. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care, guidance, and emotional support to children under the orphanage’s care.
  • Ensure the children’s basic needs, including food, shelter, health, and education, are met.
  • Collaborate with local government authorities, community leaders, and partners to address child welfare issues.
  • Organize and implement educational, spiritual, and recreational activities to promote the holistic development of children.
  • Monitor and document the physical, emotional, and academic progress of each child.
  • Advocate for children’s rights and support reintegration efforts where possible, including tracing families.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment at the orphanage.
  • Assist in fundraising activities and the preparation of reports for donors, stakeholders and the government.
  • Support the spiritual growth of the children by participating in and facilitating regular devotions and church services.
  • Provide counselling and trauma support to children facing emotional challenges.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to identify and implement strategies for improving the quality of care at the orphanage.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • A must be a Tanzania national with 22- 35 years old.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, or a related field with good academic background.
  • Acceptable management, planning and leadership skills and good reporting skills.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Strong Christian values and a passion for serving others.
  • Experience working with children in vulnerable situations is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
