Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT), a youth agricultural involvement initiative, is once again being carried out by Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture. Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) 1300 Vacancies 2024 The agricultural value chain’s numerous initiatives and methods are being used to implement BBT. SUA New 1300 Vacancies October 2024 , A few of its goals are to generate 12,000 village-level economic activities, create jobs for 20,000 women and adolescents through skill development programs (internships), and encourage block farms—large-scale farming—by 2030.

The Ministry of Agriculture has also planned to launch a unique extension services program through graduate youths (BBT Agricultural Extension Entrepreneurship Scheme, or BBT AEES) as part of the goal to improve agricultural extension services in the nation. 1,300 posts are required through BBT-AEES for eligible agricultural graduates to provide extension services for cotton farming on a temporary employment basis, as outlined below:

1. Agricultural Officer (700 positions)

Important duties consist of the following: a) Giving knowledgeable counsel to farmers and other cotton value chain participants by carrying out the following tasks:

  • Establishing, managing, and providing training for farmer groups
  • Setting up training and demonstration farms in the job area
  • Locating local stakeholders in the agriculture industry and putting them in touch with farmers to request services
  • Educating and keeping an eye on the quality of cotton from the farm to the warehouse iii. Enforcing that farmers follow right cotton farming practices iv. Compiling and distributing weekly reports on the state of agriculture in the designated area
  • Compiling the input requirements for farmers and submitting them to the appropriate authorities

Requirements: The candidate for this post has to meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, or Crop Production from a government-recognized university;
  • Be a dependable, devoted, and interpersonally adept Tanzanian;
  • Not be fired from or denied employment in the public sector;
  • Have no criminal record
  • Be between the ages of eighteen and forty
  • Be prepared to sign a performance contract for the applicable season
  • Have prior cotton farming work experience or have taken part in skills development training (internships) inside or
2. Assistant Agricultural Officer (600 Posts)

Important duties consist of the following: a) Giving knowledgeable counsel to farmers and other cotton value chain participants by carrying out the following tasks:

  • Teaching farmers the best practices for growing cotton, from clearing the land to harvesting;
  • Teaching and supervising the quality of the cotton from the farm to the warehouse;
  • Enforcing compliance with the best practices for growing cotton; iv. Preparing and distributing weekly reports on agricultural progress in the designated area;
  • Repairing farmers’ input requirements and submitting them to the appropriate authorities
  • Overseeing the effective delivery of inputs to farmers in the region;
  • Registering farmers and other stakeholders, such as input suppliers in their area, in the current digital system

Requirements: The candidate for this post has to meet the following requirements:

  • Be a dependable, devoted, and people-oriented Tanzanian;
  • Possess a Diploma in Agricultural Science or Crop Production from a government-approved institution;
  • Not be unemployed or fired from the public service; iv. Be free of criminal records; and be open to working in different rural areas.
  • Have the ability to work well under supervision
  • Be prepared to work under a temporary contract and get paid on a monthly basis as per the terms of the contract
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 40
  • Be prepared to sign a performance contract for the particular season
  • Cotton farming work experience or involvement in skill-development programs (internships) both inside and outside
