School of Nursing (SONU)
1. Assistant Lecturer (1 Post)
Job type: Full-time
Reports to: Dean, School of Nursing (SONU)
Duty Station: SJUT Chief Mazengo Campus – Dodoma
Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research, and public services such as consultancy.
Qualifications: Holder of a Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent degree. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale in undergraduate degree and a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5-point scale for a Master’s degree or equivalent. Must be registered by TNMC.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting lectures; preparing case studies; assisting in tutorials/seminars in undergraduate courses (not Master or PhD).
- Working in cooperation with senior faculty members on specific projects such as research and consultancy.
- Understudying senior academic staff to supervise special projects, conduct, publish, and disseminate research results.
- Participating in training, research, and consultancy.
- Marking and grading examinations and tests.
- Supervising students during seminars, examinations, tests, practical, field work, and tutorials.
- Participating in writing teaching manuals and curriculum development.
- Invigilating during examinations.
- Attending workshops, conferences, symposia, and faculty development training.
- Promoting excellence in service programs and performing any other duties assigned by a competent authority.
Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service.
Tenure: Fixed-term contract of four (4) years, renewable based on satisfactory performance.
2. Tutorial Assistant (1 Post)
Job type: Full-time
Reports to: Dean, School of Nursing (SONU)
Duty Station: SJUT Chief Mazengo Campus – Dodoma
Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff conduct teaching, research, and public services such as consultancy, specifically coordinating skills laboratory.
Qualifications: Holder of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale in the undergraduate degree. Must be registered by relevant authorities such as TNMC.
Experience: Working experience in tertiary education institutions will be an added advantage.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understudy senior academic staff including attending lectures, leading seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions.
- Study and acquire skills in training, research, and consultancy.
- Assist in marking and grading assignments, tests, examinations, and invigilation under supervision.
- Assist in research, consultancy projects, and outreach activities.
- Participate in curriculum development and assist in other service programs of the department.
- Perform any other duties assigned by competent authority.
Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service.

Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS)
3. Laboratory Technician – Chemistry (1 Post)
Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FaNAS)
Duty Station: SJUT Chief Mazengo Campus – Dodoma
Job Summary: With guidance of senior staff supervise and administer practical duties for chemistry students in the science laboratories, plus other duties concerning repair and maintenance of laboratory facilities.
Qualifications: Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Laboratory Technology or Laboratory Sciences. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 5-point scale.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carry out specified tasks connected with laboratory practicals, students’ projects, research, consultancy, and services under supervision.
- Assist in the repairing and maintenance of laboratory facilities.
- Assist senior staff in relevant fields of laboratory operations.
- Perform any other duties assigned by a competent authority.
Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service.
Tenure: Fixed-term contract of four (4) years, renewable based on satisfactory performance.
