The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a semi-autonomous organization under the Ministry of Works. TANROADS is responsible for managing Tanzania’s road network, ensuring road safety, and enforcing environmental standards in road construction projects. TANROADS Tanga Vacancies November 2024, Currently, the Regional Manager, TANROADS-Tanga, is inviting qualified Tanzanians to apply for the following vacancies for the supervision of the Mafuleta–Kileguru Road Project (30KM).

Position 1: Works Inspector – Drainage and Structures (1 Post)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Tanga

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Graduate or Professional Engineer.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in drainage and structural design or construction.
  • Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.
Responsibilities

Supervise drainage works and maintain detailed records. Measure daily quantities of completed works. Prepare and submit progress reports with cost updates. Maintain a comprehensive site diary. Undertake additional duties as required.

Position 2: Resident Engineer (1 Post)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Tanga

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the ERB and possess a valid practicing license.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract is an added advantage.
  • Served as a Resident Engineer on at least two similar road construction projects.
  • Proficient in English with 10+ years of field experience.
  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen.

Responsibilities

Supervise contractors on-site and ensure adherence to work plans.NOversee project quality, cost control, and contract management. Process monthly statements and facilitate timely payments.

Draft progress reports, maintain records, and prepare minutes of site meetings. Monitor and enforce environmental and social safeguards. Execute tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

Position 3: Assistant Surveyor (1 Post)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Tanga

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Land Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in survey work.
  • Proficient in English and aged 25 years or older.
  • Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
Responsibilities

Conduct surveys to measure land shape, contour, and dimensions. Coordinate survey data with engineers and project stakeholders. Adjust instruments to maintain survey accuracy. Establish fixed points for mapping and measurements. Perform other survey-related tasks as assigned.

Position 4: Works Inspector – Road Works (1 Post)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Tanga

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in road construction.
  • Self-driven and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.
Responsibilities

Supervise road works to ensure compliance with project specifications. Implement quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) procedures. Maintain accurate project records, diaries, and correspondence.

Measure quantities of completed roadworks daily. Prepare and submit project progress reports. Identify and separate non-conforming materials for corrective action.

Position 5: Materials Technician (1 Post)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Tanga

Qualifications

  • Full Technician Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in laboratory/materials testing is an added advantage.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.
Responsibilities

Monitor laboratory experiments and ensure adherence to specifications. Inspect and test materials for compliance with requirements.

Keep records of all materials-related activities. Ensure that test results conform to specifications. Manage QA/QC procedures effectively.
