    Overall objective of the assignment

    To build the capacity of plumbing trainers at Don Bosco Boys Town by delivering a comprehensive 5-day Training of Trainers (ToT) from 16th June 2025 to 20th June 2025 on firefighting, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and practical teaching strategies that reflect current industry standards in industrial automation.

    Specific Consultant Tasks

    The firefighting consultant shall:

    1. Facilitate a 5-day workshop on firefighting, covering key topics: Introduction to Fire Safety, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, Fire Extinguishing Equipment, Fire Suppression Systems—Sprinkler Systems, and Fire Prevention Strategies. 
    2. Deliver both theoretical instruction and practical hands-on training on firefighting.
    3. Support trainers in developing assignments, revision tools, and project-based learning content on firefighting.
    4. Provide mentorship and guidance on embedding industry-relevant firefighting learning outcomes into classroom practice.
    5. Produce a report summarizing the training outcomes and recommendations.

    Methodology

    The consultant is expected to:

    • Use participatory facilitation methods and group assignments to deliver the firefighting content.
    • Demonstrate practical simulations using industry-standard firefighting training kits.
    • Facilitate reflective sessions for trainers to contextualize firefighting teaching in the program.

    Key Deliverables

    The firefighting consultant should provide:

    1. A step-by-step training manual on firefighting for trainers.
    2. Structured assignments and practical exercises co-developed with the trainers on firefighting.
    3. A draft grading rubric for assessing apprentices' firefighting competencies.
    4. A 2-page report summarizing the process, achievements, gaps, and next steps.

       

    5. Qualifications Required
    • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in the relevant field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical professional experience in the firefighting industry.
    • Strong knowledge of Kenyan TVET programs and dual training models is an added advantage.
    • Excellent facilitation skills.

    Reporting

    The consultant will report to the Principal Don Bosco Boys Technical Training Institute 

    Ownership

    DBBT will have the intellectual property rights of the paper generated from this assignment. However, the consultant may share in full or part or a modified version of the papers, as appropriate, with the written consent of DBBT.
