INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY – FINANCE INTERN
The Centre for Counselling Nutrition and Health Care (COUNSENUTH) is a leading Indigenous Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) registered under Certificate of Ordinance No.9495 in 1998 that is committed to achieving optimal nutrition and quality life for children, women and other vulnerable groups in Tanzania. COUNSENUTH works to improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups through cost effective, innovative evidence-based nutrition actions with advocacy for better governance and accountability and active engagement of citizens in health and nutrition.
Overview of the Position;
A Finance Intern will help in the implementation of policies and practices for financial management, payroll, budget control, accounting and so on. By getting hands-on experience through working under a Senior Finance and Administration Officer; He/She will be able to practically apply his/her knowledge of financial laws, government policies in his/her day-to-day work at COUNSENUTH.
The Intern will report to Senior Finance and Administration Officer
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Enter information into the financial accounting system and ensure proper documentation
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets
- Reconciling daily, monthly and yearly transactions
- Assisting in preparation of financial statements
- Support the preparation and filing of receipts, invoices, and other financial documents.
- Providing customer service to clients
- Compile data for audits, and donor reports
- Support the preparation of payment vouchers and ensure timely processing of payments.
- Being a key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters
- Contribute to the overall goals of the organization by performing additional duties as assigned.
Skills and Specifications
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- The interns must have knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis
- Should be capable of preparing files and maintaining records and documentation • Should have good written and oral communication skills
- Strong ethics with an ability to manage confidential data
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is an advantage.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a graduate; holding a bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Finance and Accounts, Commerce or any other related field.
- Holding a CPA (T) will be an added advantage
