Direct report: Executive Director

Salary scale: Gross salary of between Kshs. 70,000-100,000 depending on the level of experience.

Key job responsibilities for the role:-

  • Executing school policies, ensuring compliance and implementation of recommendations as directed by the School Board of Trustees and Board of Management;
  •  Collaborating with the Trustees to continuously develop and improve the school’s education model and delivery;
  •  Act as an effective leader and ambassador for the school;
  •  Developing and implementing curriculum standards;
  •  Setting high ethical and performance standards for the school (model a school culture paired with quarterly performance appraisals guided by the school’s performance policy);
  •  Proposing and managing the school budget, oversee investment projects and overall maintenance of the school;
  •  Developing a persuasive short, medium and long-term vision for the development of the school’s culture and student program;
  •  Drive the development of an exceptional teaching team that includes coaching teachers through observation and feedback, assigning tasks and coordinating schedules, observing and overseeing job performance/targets, writing reviews and recommendations;
  •  Mentoring and arranging professional development opportunities for school staff;
  •  Meeting with parents and school guests on any queries/concerns raised and/or student progress and behavior;
  •  Disciplining and counseling students while ensuring that proper discipline, high expectations, positivity and a growth mindset among students are enforced throughout the school’s premise as per the school policy;
  •  Identify, respond and improve on classroom/school culture as well as addressing all behavioral issues;
  •  Demonstrate a high level of quality interaction with children while maintaining a genuine understanding of the students’ needs as competent and confident learners.
  •  Work and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, support staff and students by demonstrating a range of appropriate communication skills to develop a professional working environment;
  •  Inspiring students and staff toward a shared vision on school activities that designed to promote physical mental and social development such as games, arts and crafts, music, drama, storytelling, debate and competitive sports with other schools;
  •  Cover for the administrator in case of absence;
  •  Plan and lead school staff meetings, PTA meetings, committees and Board meetings etc.
  •  Manage and ensure proper delivery of duties by the support staff;
  •  Oversee the procuring of school supplies and arranging and maintaining school security;
  •  Developing strong community partnerships and relationships with other schools and organizations to provide enriching academic and extracurricular opportunities for students and teachers;

Qualifications 

  •  At least a Diploma in Education or a P1 teacher with proven track record of leadership in same or similar position;
  •  A minimum of 7 years’ experience in same or similar position in a rigorous, high- expectation school setting including instructional leadership roles at Primary level;
  •  Highly effective teacher who can model what great, inquiry-based teaching looks like;
  •  Instructionally passionate and have a desire to learn and entrench oneself in our approach to teaching and learning;
  •  Excited about self-professional development and always seeking out opportunities to grow and in particular able to demonstrate ability to further develop leadership skills and apply them to transform the lives of the children in our community;
  •  Demonstrated track record of improving other people’s performance through coaching, building strong relationships, developing creative training sessions and sharing feedback;
  •  Exceptional ability to think strategically and be detailed-oriented and conscientious;
  •  Excited about our organizational culture and able to challenge oneself;
  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills with good command of English/ Kiswahili;
  •  Proven track record in initiation and management of co-curricular activities;
  •  Degree in Education will be an added advantage;
  •  Excellence in communication and interpersonal skills.
