As a key member of the senior management team, the Local Sourcing Head will be responsible for leading the Sourcing Function for our Client, an FMCG (Non-Food) company. The successful candidate will coordinate all activities with optimum resources in hand to ensure on-time product availability at competitive cost & acceptable quality while being mindful of compliance and regulatory frameworks.

He/She will be the liaison person between the company and all associated business units (ABUs). They will be responsible for engaging ABUs for outsourced production work, ensuring quality and maximum output while adhering to set timelines. Additionally, he/she will be charged with negotiations with the production partners and tracking of all projects while working hand-in hand with the company’s production planners.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of mid to long-term strategic plans, seasonal sourcing estimates, financial budget, and capital expenditure plans for the Sourcing Supply Chain.
- Build mutually beneficial strategic partnerships with suppliers through teamwork, networking and collaboration.
- Ensure a strong product transfer process is laid down so that the transfer of a product from one factory to another can happen with minimal or no delay in production.
- Facilitate collaboration between factories, development, commercial, and costing to achieve cost targets.
- Ensure value/cost optimization by providing cost-efficient manufacturing ideas and expertise throughout the development and production process.
- Work closely with the Merchandising and Product Development teams to ensure that products are developed in a creative manner and directed towards achieving set objectives.
- Ensure environment management facilities at all sourcing factories are in proper order and all statutory regulations of environment, safety and occupational health are strictly complied with.
- Lead initiatives to modernize/upgrade supplier factories, and re-engineer existing processes in order to bring in greater efficiency and quality improvement.
- Ensure commitments on quality and delivery timelines are met in order to satisfy customer’s short-term and long-term needs.
- Put in place an effective reporting and MIS process to track key business metrics, monitor continuously to complete robust risk assessment & put in place a robust mitigation plan.
- Challenge existing standards, and policies and strive to establish a continuous improvement culture like Kaizen, ISO, 5 S, and LEAN at the Supplier end.
Do you have the following qualifications, experience and attributes?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Chemistry. In addition, a Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
- At least ten (10) years of working experience; five (5) of which must be within a busy, fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG setting.
- Certification in CPSP-K, CIPS, or a Diploma in Procurement will be an added advantage.
- Requisite knowledge in Supply chain management, negotiation skills, planning skills and good people management skills
- Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships
- Proficiency in analyzing and synthesizing data.
