Key Responsibilities:
Business Development and Growth:
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in East Africa.
- Drive profitability in the grains business line.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Negotiate and execute profitable sales deals.
Operational Oversight:
- Monitor and manage local distribution operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth business processes.
- Mentor and train junior team members.
Financial Management:
- Take full ownership of the grains P&L, including cost control and reporting.
- Resolve client issues and concerns promptly.
Market Analysis and Reporting:
- Conduct in-depth market analysis and prepare regular reports.
- Contribute to annual budgeting processes.
- Participate in industry events and conferences.
Administrative Tasks:
- Handle purchase and sales administration.
- Support debt recovery efforts.
- Monitor port operations and regional food supply and demand.
Qualifications
Education:
- University Degree: Agribusiness/Financial degree
- Good computer knowledge - Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI
- Background in agriculture will useful
Experience (including number of years):
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Specific product knowledge
- In depth knowledge of commodity trade
- Understanding of Cash and Futures Markets
- Understanding of regional and global supply/demand
- Very good stakeholder management skills
- Good working knowledge of Excel (formulation/models) and Microsoft Office.
- Good understanding of macro and micro economics
- Knowledge of finance and accounting
- Ability to handle pressure and think quickly
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately
- Good mathematical knowledge
