Security Lead – Tanzania

Job Purpose:

• To adapt and coordinate the implementation of DSC Regional Security policies and standards within the respective country.

• Ensure the fundamental security objectives of protecting people, physical & customer assets, sensitive internal information, and public reputation are achieved.

• Reduce risk exposure through the implementation of unified DHL security standards by risk classification and audits across the country.

• Responsible for management and people leadership at the country level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement country security standards, policies, and security programs in line with regional standards and the DHL Global Security framework.

• Manage, review, and investigate security-related incidents within the area of responsibility, and report metrics, trends, and root causes to line and CT management.

• Ensure the rollout of country-level risk assessments, audits, and security training programs.

• Maintain a holistic view of security costs, ensure cost transparency to the business, and manage budgets and Profit and Loss statements.

• Ensure customer value through optimized security performance.

• Achieve DPDHL security standards in cooperation with DSC country management for the implementation of security policies and standards.

• Reduce losses, security incidents, and security-related claims.

• Identify security risk levels and gaps, and report corrective action progress.

• Optimize cost efficiency and resource utilization.

• Gain positive customer feedback, positioning security as a business differentiator.

External Relations:

• Manage customer complaints regarding security incidents.

• Assist and advise local customers on security issues and measures.

• Develop relationships with law enforcement, legal, and regulatory bodies.

Internal Relations:

• Provide security advice and assistance to country sales and business management.

• Support regional security management and local nominees.

• Provide monthly metrics to management on security incidents and situations.

• Develop relationships with site management, operations personnel, and country management to promote security as added value.

• Collaborate with other BU security management, as well as regional and global teams.

• Maintain relations with the sales organization.

Process Development:

• Develop and implement security processes and procedures across the country.

• Implement risk classification, assessment, and audit programs.

• Launch security awareness and training programs.

• Initiate security incident reporting, investigation, and trending.

• Implement security standards with subcontractors and for new projects.

• Assist with the installation and procurement of technical security equipment for upgrades or new builds.

• Ensure the team understands security policies and procedures, as well as the department’s strategy, direction, and priorities.

• Promote the continuous development of team members (if applicable).

• Support the Region and/or Cluster Head of Security on specific projects and IKO completion.

• Develop country nominee roles.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certification from professional security bodies is preferred.

• Relevant academic qualifications in Security, Criminology, or Risk Management/Analysis are highly desired.

• Relevant Law Enforcement (LE) or Military background is an advantage.

• Preference for a minimum of 1-year experience in the division.

• 3-5 years of experience in security management, with a minimum of 1-2 years in the logistics field.

• Preference for 2 years of experience/knowledge in-country or in the region.

• Full 7-year employment history in place.

• Preference for candidates with academic qualifications and/or a relevant LE or Military background.

• Experience with Microsoft tools is preferred.
