Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement agronomy strategies for avocado crop production, including soil management, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
- Monitor and assess the health of avocado orchards, identifying issues related to plant nutrition, disease, pests, and environmental stress.
- Conduct soil and tissue sampling and analysis to guide agronomic decisions and improve crop performance.
- Lead a team of agronomists and field staff, providing training and guidance on best practices for avocado farming.
- Collaborate with farm management to optimize resources and ensure maximum efficiency in the orchard.
- Stay updated on the latest agricultural research, trends, and technologies to continuously improve farm operations.
- Manage the implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies and sustainable farming techniques.
- Monitor harvest quality and ensure post-harvest practices align with industry standards.
- Prepare detailed reports and analysis for farm performance, presenting findings to senior management.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience in agronomy, with a strong background in fruit farming (preferably avocados).
- In-depth knowledge of avocado cultivation, including soil fertility, pest management, irrigation systems, and climate conditions.
- Experience with precision agriculture, crop management software, and data analysis.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
