    The position will report to the Project Coordinator, working closely with the country teams based in Kenya and Malawi, and will primarily support the day to day implementation of project activities in Kenya. The Project Assistant will support the Project Coordinator to ; foster collaboration and communication between project partners; and ensuring the effective and efficient support in coordination of project activities in a timely manner. Duties include:

    Project Coordination Support

    • Assist with requests from ACT project team members and coordinate with various functional units (e.g.HR, procurement, communications, IT, finance).
    • Support the Project Coordinator and finance team in monitoring the project budget, including partner budgets and financial reporting, and assist with donor reporting.
    • Facilitate communication among project teams and partners in Kenya, Malawi, and Canada.
    • Help organize and support Project Steering and Advisory Committee meetings.

    Partner Relations & Communications Support

    • Assist the Project Coordinator in managing relationships with project partners in Kenya .
    • Follow up with partners on the implementation and reporting of project activities.
    • Support the collection of multimedia content for communication materials showcasing project impact.

    Donor Liaison & Event Coordination

    • Provide support in organizing donor missions, HQ monitoring visits, and other project events.

    Qualifications and Competencies

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (social sciences, business); 
    • A minimum of five years supporting development initiatives;
    • Knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship ecosystem support, gender lens investment and financial inclusion desired;
    • Demonstrated capacity to work in cross-sectoral collaboration;  
    • Experience working with a variety of donor agencies; experience with Global Affairs Canada is an added value
    • Knowledge of Results Based Management (RBM) and environmental and gender policies and reporting requirements;
    • Proven financial, administrative and organizational support  skills;
    • Diplomatic skills and the knowledge of cross-cultural, inter-personal communication;
    • Excellent administration and organizational skills, including ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple initiatives under tight deadlines;
    • Proven ability to work productively with a variety of stakeholders to run participatory processes and meet tight deadlines with an emphasis on producing quality products;
    • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills, including the ability to build relationships, network, communicate and represent at a senior level are essential;
    • Share in WUSC’s commitment and approach to advance gender equality and social inclusion for all young people;

    Program Officer, Complementary Pathways - Consultant (Maternity Cover)

     The Consultant, Program Officer, Complementary Pathways will support the following functions:

    • Coordinate planning with project stakeholders in various locations including Nairobi, Kakuma and Dadaab refugee camps and any other target locations.
    • Support in students and stakeholder engagements.
    • Support with logistics for various project activities including convening project beneficiaries for group and individual activities.
    • Organize travel logistics for WUSC Kenya and WUSC Ottawa staff members.
    • Travel to Kakuma and/or Dadaab refugee camp and any other target locations during the SRP selection process and to provide follow-up support to the selected cohort.
    • Maintain constant communication with the beneficiaries. 
    • Participate in regular meetings with WUSC Kenya and WUSC Ottawa team as and when needed.
    • All other related tasks, as required.  

    Candidate Experience and Competencies

    • University degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
    • 2–3 years’ experience in the NGO, humanitarian, or refugee sectors.
    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Fluent in English; French is an added advantage.
    • Strong cultural sensitivity and understanding of crisis contexts.
    • Committed to gender equality.
    • Highly organized, goal-oriented, and able to work independently under pressure.
    • Proficient in IT tools, especially spreadsheets and PDF programs.
    • Flexible and creative, with willingness to travel to locations such as Kakuma and Dadaab for two weeks at a time each quarter or as needed
