The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is tasked with maintaining and developing the trunk and regional road networks in mainland Tanzania. TANROADS also conducts axle load control operations using weighbridge scales.

The Regional Manager of TANROADS Coast, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, seeks qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant positions under the project for upgrading the Utete-Nyamwage road (33.7 km) to bitumen standard, Contract No. TRD/H0/1036/2022/23. These are specified employment contracts for the road project, with the following positions available:
Position Title: Resident Engineer (1 Post)Entry Qualifications:
- Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the ERB as a Professional Engineer and possesses a current practicing certificate.
- Postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering is an added advantage.
- Minimum cumulative work experience of 10 years in road and bridge construction designs, supervision, and contract management under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
- Served as a Resident Engineer or equivalent in at least three road construction projects of similar nature in the last 10 years.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
- Lead the site staff and handle all technical and administrative aspects.
- Supervise contractors at the site and force account operations.
- Manage work plans for the project.
- Oversee quality control measures.
- Handle project contracts.
- Prepare monthly progress reports.
- Process contractor invoices and facilitate payments.
- Prepare and attend regular site meetings, including drafting minutes.
- Monitor social and environmental impact mitigation measures in consultation with TANROADS’ Environmental Specialist.
- Maintain updated records, including reports, work diaries, correspondences, instructions, test records, measurements, payment records, and other relevant documents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

- Terms of Service: Specified contract for one year.
